Welcome to this special edition of “Francia 2019” on Diosas Olímpicas!
This idea came about since the end of last year, but it was only after the original proposal fell through that I proposed to Olga Trujillo to give her a new tab to her website.
Since then, we brought in another writer, Beatriz Velez and a lot of emails went backwards and forwards to plan our strategies moving forward.
Time has flown since then!
So here we are: two of us will be heading to France next month to experience what will be going on during the 8th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. We’ll be spread around and adding our own points of view to the event and developments.
Both Beatriz and myself will be attending a conference in Lyon totally focused on women’s football, called ‘Football par et pour le Femmes’, debating the issues in the sport. Time permitting, we plan to share our findings and experiences with our readers and try to textually transport you to this experience.
As for me, I will be watching one of the matches – Jamaica v Australia in Grenoble and try to get some of the supporters to share their experiences. I will also be joining the Equal Playing Field initiative, that wants to break the world record for the longest match played continuously for five days in Lyon. Will I see you there? If not, there will be more from that too!
